CMS Switzerland strengthens its partnership

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Matthias Kuert, Dr Simone Brauchbar Birkhäuser and Dr Christoph Willi to the firm's partnership, which will take effect on 1 January 2023.

These appointments will further strengthen the firm's Banking & Finance, including Capital Markets, Intellectual Property, and Life Sciences & Healthcare practice areas.

Dr Matthias Kuert, LL.M.

Partner, CMS Zurich

Dr Matthias Kuert has been with us since the beginning of his career.

He advises clients on financial law, including capital markets law, and general corporate and contract law. In these fields, Matthias also handles civil, regulatory and criminal proceedings. One focus of his practice has been supporting issuers, large shareholders and board members of listed companies with equity capital market transactions, proxy fights, and compliance with capital market regulations. Matthias further focuses on regulatory and contract law advice to FinTech companies and other financial services providers. Matthias is an authorised issuer's representative at SIX Swiss Exchange.

Dr Simone Brauchbar Birkhäuser, LL.M.

Partner, CMS Zurich

Dr Simone Brauchbar Birkhäuser has been with our firm as a counsel since January 2017.

She advises and represents clients in connection with a wide range of contentious and non-contentious issues relating to intellectual property and unfair competition law, especially trade marks and advertisement. Simone has substantial experience in drafting and enforcing contracts for the transfer and licensing of intellectual property rights as well as research and development agreements. In addition, she provides comprehensive advice on product compliance issues of consumer products before and after their launching.

Dr Christoph Willi, LL.M.

Partner, CMS Zurich

Dr Christoph Willi will join our firm as a new partner on 1 January 2023, and will further develop our expertise in Life Sciences & Healthcare.

He is engaged in advising companies that provide medical services or manufacture and distribute pharmaceutical products and medical devices in Switzerland. Due to his more than 20 years of experience in advising medical service providers, Christoph is expert in the specifics of the highly regulated Swiss healthcare system. Additionally, Christoph is an elected part-time judge at the Swiss Federal Patent Court.
