Colin Carter begann seine universitäre Ausbildung in der Informatik und Physik, wechselte dann aber zur Jurisprudenz und schloss sein MLaw-Studium an der Universität Basel ab. Nebenbei arbeitete Colin mehrere Jahre als Web- und App-Entwickler und realisierte verschiedene Projekte innerhalb und ausserhalb des juristischen Bereichs. Bereits während seines Studiums interessierte er sich für die Schnittstelle zwischen Recht und Informatik. Seit 2020 beschäftigt sich Colin intensiv mit künstlicher Intelligenz und deren Anwendung im juristischen Bereich. Colin ist seit Juli 2022 als Legal Engineer bei der Coop Rechtsschutz AG tätig, wo er KI-Anwendungen im juristischen Bereich entwickelt und die Einsatzmöglichkeiten von KI in der juristischen Praxis weiter erforscht. Neben seiner Arbeit als Legal Engineer doktoriert Colin an der Juristischen Fakultät der Universität Basel bei Prof. Sabine Gless über autonome Entscheidungen durch KI im Strafrecht. Colin ist Mitbegründer von Repositorium.ch und hält regelmässig Vorträge auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene zum Thema KI im Rechtsbereich.
Privacy by Design und by Default: Technische und organisatorische Massnahmen bei der Entwicklung und dem Einsatz von KI-Applikationen
Starting in the 1980s, the development of IT applications in the Austrian justice system has gradually led to the support of practically all areas of the justice system by IT applications. Currently, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice is implementing the project «Strategic Initiative Justice 3.0» with the goal of completely digital procedural processing. The digital justice workplace includes, among other things, a uniform justice-wide e-file system, electronic workflows, word processing with access to procedural data, and an electronic platform that integrates the above-mentioned and other essential applications in a clearly structured form. The presentation highlights the development, status quo, and the direction in which the further journey of justice IT can lead.
